A working meeting with the participation of deputies of the Vladivostok Duma, representatives of the G.I. Nevelskoy MSU and the Agency for the Development of Human Capital, which was devoted to establishing a scientific and educational complex on the Russky Island, was held in the G.I. Nevelskoy MSU. The meeting was attended by the chairman of the Vladivostok Duma Andrey Brik, the rector of the G.I. Nevelskoy MSU Denis Burov, Deputy of the Vladivostok Duma Viktor Ablapov, Advisor to the Chairman of the Vladivostok Duma Sergey Krylov, Head of the Social Projects Department of the Agency for the Development of Human Capital in the Far East and the Arctic Olga Varsanova, and Assistant to the Rector of the G.I. Nevelskoy MSU for scientific work Mikhail Kholosha. The meeting participants discussed the prospects for establishing a scientific and educational complex on the Russky Island with the necessary coastal infrastructure, since the island territory with an area of several tens of hectares is under the jurisdiction of the Maritime University. This complex will contribute to the solution of federal tasks for the development of Siberia and the Russian Far East, the implementation of the Concept for the development of Russky Island, approved by the Government of the Russian Federation. A proposal was considered to make the Marine School a key element of the future complex - an innovative educational institution that implements a program of general and additional pre-university education for children from grades 5 to 11 in a year-round full boarding school, like cadet classes. Rector of the G.I. Nevelskoy MSU Denis Burov emphasized that the Maritime University possesses the necessary scientific and technical base, which makes it possible to create an appropriate structure for personnel training at the University. It was decided to hold an expanded meeting this November on establishing a scientific and educational complex in Vladivostok, and to organize a trip to Russky Island for viewing the proposed location of the complex. The «Strategy for the Development of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation» approved by Vladimir Putin notes the need to support development programs for universities, educational institutions of higher education, their integration with scientific organizations and enterprises.
