Exciting situations and gusto of the Underwater Robotics Competition

On September 25, at the closing ceremony of the second stage of the Third All-Russian Underwater Robotics Competition Aquarobotech-2020, the champion teams in the AUV - S.O. Makarov TOVVMU and in TNPA – G.I. Nevelskoy MSU became known. Today organizers, judges and team members share their impressions of the past Competition. – In the process of preparing for the competition, the teams are provided with expert support from research institutes. This is a guarantee that students and cadets will gain the right experience and be able to assess their prospects for work in specialized enterprises. In addition to sharing experience with each other, the Aquarobotech Competitions give students the opportunity to create business ties with representatives of the real sector of the economy and science. Several companies are interested in the students’ developments, and if everything goes well, the teams will be able to create interesting commercial projects. The team of G.I. Nevelskoy showed a particularly spectacular performance in the TNPA class: for 10 minutes the pilot of the team Sergey Plotnikov tried to drag the loaded model of the server (two kilograms of lead!) through the obstacles. It could be compared to the most poignant moments from suspenseful films. And then in the pool there was applause from the judges and spectators - the server model was delivered to the site! But there was little time left, and it was necessary to raise the server to the surface with the help of a lifting balloon with air. Again it was a dramatic operation, full of unpleasant surprises… But everything worked out, the time allotted for the execution of the tasks, second per second, ended exactly at the moment when the model was towed to the side. The teams find themselves in the most exciting situations, but they catch real drive and a sense of sports passion. All this is fully present when working with devices - this is the competition in underwater robotics.
