История Морского технологического факультета начинается с создания Морского технологического института в 2002 году (приказ ректора от 17 мая 2002 года за № 95).
Технологический факультет создан 10 июля 2002 года приказом ректора за № 138.
Первым директором института был профессор, доктор технических наук Лев Борисович Леонтьев.
С 2002 года по апрель 2006 года первым деканом был кандидат технических наук, доцент кафедры технологии организации судоремонта – Юзов Александр Дмитриевич.
В 2002 году на факультете обучалось 210 студентов по специальностям:
1. Эксплуатация перегрузочного оборудования портов и транспортных терминалов;
2. Судовое оборудование;
3. Оборудование и технология повышения износостойкости и восстановления деталей машин и аппаратов.
Первый выпуск состоялся в 2004 году – 19 человек. С 2002 по 2010 годы состоялось 9 выпусков, дипломы получили 287 молодых специалистов, в том числе 24 человека получили дипломы с отличием.
С 2006 года деканом Технологического факультета является доктор технических наук, профессор, почетный работник рыбной промышленности Российской Федерации Владимир Михайлович Дацун.
C 2021 по 2022 гг исполняющей обязанности декана факукультета - Цыганкова Наталья Павловна
С 01.02.2022 г. факультет присоединен к Судомеханическому факультету.

В состав Морского технологического факультета входят 4 кафедры:
Кафедра технологии и организации судоремонта (ТОСР), заведующий кафедрой, профессор, доктор технических наук Москаленко Михаил Анатольевич.
Кафедра эксплуатации перегрузочной техники и основ проектирования машин (ЭПТ и ОПМ), заведующий кафедрой, доцент, кандидат технических наук Будрин Сергей Борисович.
Кафедра технологии материалов (ТМ), заведующий кафедрой, профессор, кандидат технических наук Тарасов Валентин Васильевич.
Кафедра теоретической механики и сопротивления материалов (ТМ и СМ), заведующий кафедрой профессор, доктор технических наук Гаманов Владимир Федорович.
С историей кафедр, созданных в 1944-46 годах, связаны имена выдающихся ученых, внесших большой научный вклад в развитие и совершенствование технологии и организации судоремонтного производства подготовки специалистов отрасли:
заслуженный работник транспорта РСФСР, профессор Гайр Артемьевич Меграбов; Почетный работник морского флота, профессор Моисей Яковлевич Морозов; Почетный работник морского флота, доцент Феодосий Рафаилович Ниточкин, Заслуженный работник транспорта Российской Федерации, академик РАТ, профессор Вячеслав Иванович Седых.
Учебный процесс и научную работу обеспечивает профессорско-преподавательский состав высокой квалификации, это 15 докторов наук и профессоров, 25 кандидатов наук и доцентов.
На судомеханическом факультете обучаются студенты по направлениям:
26.03.02 Кораблестроение, океанотехника и системотехника объектов морской инфраструктуры (квалификация – бакалавр);
23.03.03 Эксплуатация транспортно-технологических машин и комплексов (квалификация – бакалавр);
15.03.01 Машиностроение (квалификация – бакалавр);
Студенты проходят практику по специальностям в соответствии с требованиями ФГОС на судоремонтных предприятиях и морских портах Дальнего Востока.
Практическая подготовка студентов обеспечивается хорошей лабораторной базой с действующим оборудованием, а также Научно-образовательным технологическим центром МГУ им. адм. Г.И. Невельского.
The history of Sea technological faculty begins with creation of Sea institute of technology in 2002 (the order of the rector of May 17, 2002 for № 95).
The technological faculty is created on July 10, 2002 by the order of the rector for № 138.
Professor, the Doctor of Engineering Lev Borisovich Leontyev was the first director of institute.
From 2002 to April, 2006 Candidate of Technical Sciences, the associate professor of technology of the organization of ship repair – Yuzov Alexander Dmitrievich was the first dean.
In 2002 210 students on specialties studied at faculty:
1. Maintenance of the overload equipment of ports and transport terminals;
2. Ship equipment;
3. Equipment and technology of increase in wear resistance and restoration of details of machines and devices.
The first release took place in 2004 – 19 people. From 2002 to 2010 9 releases took place, diplomas were gained by 287 young specialists, including 24 persons gained honors degrees.
Since 2006 the dean of Technological faculty is the Doctor of Engineering, professor, the honorary worker of fishing industry of the Russian Federation Vladimir Mikhaylovich Datsun.
From 2021 to 2022, the acting dean of the Faculty is Natalia Pavlovna Tsygankova
Since 01.02.2022, the faculty has been attached to the Faculty of Ship Mechanics.

Names of the outstanding scientists who made a big scientific contribution to development and enhancement of technology and the organization of ship-repair production of training of specialists of branch are connected to history of the departments created in 1944-46:
honored worker of transport of RSFSR, professor Gayr Artemyevich Megrabov; Honorary worker of navy, professor Moisey Yakovlevich Morozov; Honorary worker of navy, associate professor Feodosiy Rafailovich Nitochkin, Honoured worker of transport of the Russian Federation, academician of RAT, professor Vyacheslav Ivanovich Sedykh.
On May 05, 2010 the Technological faculty is renamed by the order of the rector for No. 71 into the Sea Technological Faculty (STF) and entered into structure of Sea academy. And today Sea Technological Faculty is teaching and educational, scientific structural subdividing of Sea academy.
Educational process and scientific functioning is ensured by the faculty of high qualification, these are 15 doctors of science and professors, 25 candidates of science and associate professors.
Students in the directions study at ship mechanical faculty:
26.03.02 Shipbuilding, ocean engineering and a systems engineering of objects of sea infrastructure (qualification – the bachelor);
23.03.03 Maintenance of transport technological machines and complexes (qualification – the bachelor);
15.03.01 Mechanical engineering (qualification – the bachelor);
Students do practical training on specialties according to requirements of FGOS at the ship-repair enterprises and seaports of the Far East.
Practical training of students is provided with a good laboratory basis with the operative equipment and also Scientific and educational technological center of MSU of atm. G.I. Nevelsky.
