December 13, traditional events dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Sea Disasters took place in the Nevelskoy MSU. Cadets, students and staff of the Maritime University, as well as representatives of the Far Eastern Association of Sea Captains, the Russian Professional Union of Sailors and the search team "Hals" took part in them. This summer, the commemorative sign “To the victims of sea disasters” was inaugurated on the campus of Nevelskoy MSU. captains and cadets came to it to lay flowers. The participants honored the memory of those who forever remained in the depths of the sea with a moment of silence. On the Day of Remembrance President of the Far Eastern Association of Sea Captains Petr Osichansky told cadets about one of the largest marine disasters of the last century - the wreck of the Indigirka steamer, when 745 people died. It happened on the night of December 12-13, 1939. In fact, December 13th is the day when future captains are introduced into the profession, when not only the need for knowledge of the features of modern navigation and safety precautions is revealed, but also the importance of a sense of responsibility, speed of reaction, personal courage and that intuitive superknowledge that only the experience of long work in the sea gives. Sea captains N.R. Cheptsov, V.P. Dobrokvashin and others talked about this in their speeches reiterating that the sea does not forgive mistakes.
